About Us

Numiscent.com is the culmination of what began as a means to fuel an addiction to Lincoln Cents. What started out as a "hobby" evolved into a part time business, and then eventually a full time business.

Numiscent LLC are husband and wife, Tom and Tracy Frank, and this is our full time business. We are a small company, based out of central Pennsylvania, with a focus on one type of coin: Lincoln Cents -- early date uncirculated Lincoln Cents to be specific. We are not a large firm with positions like "senior buyer," pushing large quantities of coins and posing for pictures in a suit and tie, and we don't plan to ever be. Make no mistake though; our day job entails doing nothing but hunting down and providing for you the most beautiful Lincolns out there, and doing so on a personal level that you probably won't receive anywhere else. When you ask a question about a coin or advice on anything for that matter, you will usually talk to me, Tom. And you may be delightfully surprised at the length of my response and the level personal service you receive.

The original idea that spawned this company was that most coin dealers have some of everything, but not a strong focus on Lincoln Cents to match that of a driven collector of the series. I would notice when browsing the tables at coin shows that when I asked specific questions about coins of interest, my knowledge about this one type of coin surprisingly often exceeded the well-rounded dealer's. This was actually a problem for me, because I wanted to keep learning more, but most dealers didn't seem to have the answers after a certain point. Questions like "how can you tell for sure that a matte proof is actually a matte proof?" would usually just result in the generic "Square rims" answer, which really did not answer the question at all. This not meant to insult the traditional coin dealer. In fact, the scenario makes perfect sense, because prior to the internet, dealers had to span a large part of the numismatic collector market to serve a local area. Imagine someone having a shop with only pennies -- it just wouldn't work! For that reason, your local Joe's Coin Shop had to have a well rounded knowledge about many types of coins. That is great for the collector who also collects some of everything, but it can leave the occasional Lincoln Cent addict craving more. Now, with access to a nationwide audience through the internet (and professional photography skills don't hurt either), the concept of a specialized dealer can work. They just aren't out there yet. That's where we are unique.

The idea started small, and as our customer base grew, so did the business.

This site will start out as a simple means to buy coins, read a few articles, and consign your coins, but we have plans to provide a wealth of information and interactive resources. Our goal is to eventually make numiscent.com a community meeting place for Lincoln Cent collectors to not only receive, but also share their own material. For now though, as this web site is just getting started, kick back and enjoy the quality coins available, and don't be afraid to ask questions about any coins of interest.

Thanks for visiting!

Return Policy

We want you to be happy with your purchase, and we strive to treat others as we would want to be treated. For this reason, all coins have a 10 day return privilege in their original, unopened holders. This means you have 10 full days to inspect, seek a second opinion, and place the coin back in the mail, as long as the holder is never opened or otherwise damaged in a way that could possibly harm the coin. In other words, a coin is not returnable once the holder has been opened. We understand that pictures are only good for so much, and that sometimes a coin just needs to be seen with the naked eye for the real decision to be made.
